TARGET AUDIENCE

The target audience of our film will be generally aimed at Males aged around the ages of 16-30 due to the fact that it is an action film that will have a male lead, and will contain typical conventions of mystery and violence; this requires a sense of maturity within the audience as they will have to cope with graphic imagery and the dark tones usually seen in action films. The film will be mainly aimed at the middle to working class social class, (so C2-E in the demographic table) and 'Experiencers' of the psycho-graphic table, as the main character of our film will be a student who is young and impulsive.

Compared with the target audience of 'The Bourne Identity' who target an audience with 60% of the people being 15-34. It doesn't attract the older audience as the Bourne series isn't really a cult movie compared to that of the James Bond series. 62% of the target audience is male, this is due to the fact that the main themes of the film are to do with violence, fights, and revenge - which are typically preferred by men. The targeted social class of the film is also similar to that of our film trailer project, as the complex narrative and the dark themes with a strong focus on action present in the film appeal to the same audience.

I will target this audience with my three products:

Trailer - In my trailer I will be including many mainstream conventions of the action genre such as fast paced editing with cuts and dynamic camera angles that emphasise the action and make it seem more dramatic; this can be done with a Steadicam video camera. I will also include a multitude of action scenes that display the amount of violence or combat that are present in the film, scenes may include the use of CGI such as explosions or a muzzle flash; or Foley sounds such as gun-shots. The use of guns or cars are iconic props of the action genre, and will be utilised well in a city setting such as London, which I have already scouted out for locations.

Poster - In my poster, I will be including several mainstream elements that are present in modern action films such as the main protagonist being on the front cover, however, I will by stylising my film poster in a minimalist way, this is to stand out from existing movie posters that are seen today and to draw more attention to the central character that will be present in our film. The text on our poster will be sans-serif to convey modern conventions that hint at when and where the film is set. Finally, the film poster will also contain typical poster conventions such as the slogan, film title, and credits toward the production team, cast and director.

Website - In my website, I will be including the main conventions of a website, such as social media links, the name of the film, links to the trailer, story, cast, gallery and posters. I will also include a main teaser of the trailer on the front page that will cover the majority of the page. This will end up catching the eye of our audience, as they will see a montage of action scenes that will draw them into the website and would make them want to explore the site in search of the trailer or story, to help them find out what the film is about.
