WHAT GENRE & WHY?

For our film project, we have decided to choose the main genre of Action, as we believe that will generate a plot or story elements that will entice a viewer to watch our film, purely based on the fact that action is a genre that dominates the market. With the sub-genres of Mystery and Crime to give the plot depth, I think that these genres will be an interesting topic to explore. Films such as Sherlock Holmes and the Bourne Identity are films that we will aspire to emulate, the use of cinematography as well as how they construct the plot through their action scenes will be key when producing our trailer. We understand that other genres such as Science Fiction would be hard to do due to our budget restraints as Sixth Form students, so we chose a more suitable genre that would allow us to work within our budget. Things we need to think about are:

- The plot

- The props (Low-cost props, plastic props may be unrealistic and could spoil the project.)

- The soundtrack (A good soundtrack would manage to keep someone watching.)

- The camera angles and shots we may want to use

- The actors (Good actors are essential when producing a movie project.)

- The posters/website/magazine covers that would work with our genre/film.
